BFA sends Mooki packing?

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is expected to send its Marketing and Communications Officer, Ishmael Mooki packing tomorrow before his probation comes to an end. Mooki joined BFA in February and was given six months probation. But information reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that he will be relieved of his duties, four months into the high-profile job.

It is understood that BFA officials have decided that enough is enough with Mooki as they feel that he has been a disappointment. They argue that he has failed to improve and protect the image of the BFA. "Some of the other things which Mooki had done cannot be said in the media. They are bad and BFA has reached a decision that he should not continue," said a BFA insider.
Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that when interviews were done some months ago, the BFA was warned against employing Mooki. Now it is alleged the BFA feel that he has not only under-performed but at times has 'sold' the association in the media. For example, the BFA is said to be unhappy about the way Mooki handled the issue of allowances and appearance fees for national team players. In addition, he is said to have performed badly when an employee of BFA was alleged to have taken players to Cyprus without the consent of clubs.
Mooki told Mmegi Sport yesterday that he has heard the allegations that his stay will come to an end tomorrow. "I've not received any correspondence to that effect. You can ask (Thabo) Ntshinogang (the BFA chief executive officer)," he said.
Ntshinogang claimed yesterday that he knows nothing about Mooki's impending departure. "That one I cannot discuss with you. He is an employee of the BFA and we have to protect him. If we feel that he cannot continue with us, we will only comment when the time comes," said Ntshinogang.
