BFA rules out COSAFA bid

The Botswana Football Association (BFA)’s chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo has ruled out bidding for the rights to host this year’s COSAFA after Zimbabwe pulled out last week. Zimbabwe cited inadequate time to organise the competition.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Mfolo said the association was in no position to bid but he said a proposal could be made the through Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC). He however hinted that the chances are very slim after the BFA let go off last year’s hosting opportunity.

The BFA failed to raise 25% of the hosting budget as per the requirements.  “I don’t think we are going to bid, but we can make a hint to the commission (BNSC), show them that there is an opportunity here. We would like to host but when you do, the commission must okay everything. Last year were supposed to host but we could not get the support from our parents,” he said.
