The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is probing dual club ownership and has referred some cases to its ethics committee.

Although BFA chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng refused to disclose clubs under probe, Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that business mogul Nicholas Zakhem’s ties with both, Gilport Lions and Gaborone United, and BDF XI-Matebejana links are under the radar. It is unclear if Jwaneng Galaxy and Orapa United, both under Debswana, and competing in the same league, will be investigated.

The BFA wants to establish if it’s ethical to own or have control in more than one club, particularly competing in the same league. Kemoeng said the association’s ethics committee is looking into the two cases.
