BFA monitors Egypt unrest ahead of Under-23 tie

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is in talks with the Egyptian soccer governing body regarding the safety of staging the Under-23 tie between the two countries in the North African country following weeks of political unrest which has left scores dead.

The mass uprisings forced out President Hosni Mubarak and there are concerns regarding the safety of the Under-23 team when it travels to Cairo for an Olympic qualifier next weekend. BFA chief executive officer (CEO), Judge Mookodi, said they are in touch with the Egypt Football Federation regarding the situation.

He said they had not sought a shift in the match venue at the moment as they are still assessing the situation."We are not at that stage yet. It will depend on the feedback we get from... there," Mookodi said.
