BFA impressed by its achievements

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president Philip Makgalemele has revealed that they have made strides in the training of soccer personnel through the support of FIFA, CAF and the Olympic Committee.

"We have conducted training for medical personnel, referees, coaches and administrators including for the Premier League leadership," he said yesterday when giving an update of BFA achievements this year. He stated that the Premier League now has a leadership forum of chairpersons of clubs. He revealed that the medical committee is currently assessing the medical situation in football from the national team level. He added that they are already working on certain recommendations, which they shall present to BFA council next week.

Makgalemele stated that the performances of the Zebras and Under-23 deserve praise. He congratulated all the stakeholders who made the successes of the teams possible. He said that they are currently engaged in the management of the two teams to ascertain what they learned and how best they can improve their away record. He said that women football is receiving attention and they put together a female national team, which lost to Namibia over the weekend. "We are currently working on securing a sponsorship for this programme and we remain committed to ensuring that we reach greater heights," he said. He cited the launch of the junior leagues in Gaborone and Francistown as some of the BFA achievements this year.
