BFA guards Zebras' trademark

Botswana Football Association (BFA) is on the lookout to thwart those who want to irregularly benefit from the Zebras' popularity after their first-ever qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The association is in the process of registering the Zebras as a brand name and a trademark to guard against other individuals or companies claiming commercial ownership of the name. Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, David Fani, told Mmegi Sport that the situation obtaining in South Africa over the commercial rights on the name Bafana Bafana has prompted them to act.

He said at the moment, they are trying to find out whether the name has already been registered or is owned by anyone. "At the moment, we are not sure whether the name belongs to someone else or not.
