BFA explains role in New Zealand game saga

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has denied responsibility for the embarrassing events that surrounded the Zebras' international friendly against New Zealand saying that it was a reluctant player in the whole saga.

The game remained in doubt as soccer authorities seemed unprepared for it.

BFA president David Fani blasted the media at a press briefing in Gaborone on Tuesday for reporting that the association had caused the country embarrassment by inviting New Zealand without consulting the relevant stakeholders including the 2010 Task Force Team chaired by Ministers of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism; and Youth, Sports and Culture.
