BFA divided over Zebras coach?

Cracks have emerged in the Botswana Football Association (BFA) over the appointment of the next Zebras' coach. The association is understood to be divided over the intended appointment of Gaborone United (GU) coach Mike Sithole ahead of the incumbent Stanley Tshosane.

Sithole recently led GU to its first league title in 19 years. The Zambian is tipped to take over as the next Zebras' coach ahead of six other applicants. Five of the applicants are said to be foreigners while two are locals. However, it has emerged that some BFA officials believe Tshosane should stay as head coach to ensure continuity. Tshosane's contract with BFA ends in December. "The argument is that Mike (Sithole) has similar qualifications as Stan (Tshosane) and they are both African coaches. It would have made sense if he had better qualifications. Again, Stan has started building a team for the future. For purposes of continuity, some believe he should continue in that position," said a BFA source.

Tshosane has attended an advanced coaching course at the Royal Netherlands Football Association Academy. He has an advanced diploma and intermediate diploma from the Brazil Football Academy. He holds an International Certificate in Sports Coaching from the American Sports Academy.
