Title chasers BDF XI beat relegation-haunted Nico United 2-0 in a dull game at the SSKB Stadium over the weekend. The match proved that both sides will have to up their performance to realise their contrasting ambitions - Nico to avoid the relegation dog fight and BDF XI to win the title.

Both sides exhibited schoolboy soccer in a game that did not look like the high stakes affair it was.  BDF XI did not play like title contenders while Nico did not look like a side seeking to avoid relegation. Majombolo are lying 12th in the Premier League with 25 points from 25 outings.

BDF XI won the game 2-0 thanks to two second half goals from Mpho Mabogo. The first goal was scored just seven minutes after re-start. It was created by Kenanao Kgetholetsile who rounded the sleepy Nico defence to send in a cross from the right. As the defence scrambled to clear, Mabogo stretched his leg to bury the chance. For the second one, the burly former Zebras' man made a brave solo run from deep and neutralised four defenders before beating Crispen Nyamutambo in Nico goal.
