BDF XI march forward

BDF XI had to come from a goal down to defeat youthful Uniao Flamengo Santos 2-1 in an exciting be MOBILE Premier League game in Lobatse on Sunday.

 After the win, BDF XI now have a better chance to secure at least a third place finish following ECCO City Greens' 2-1 loss to Police XI in Francistown on Sunday. Only goal difference still keeps ECCO in third place ahead of BDF XI who have a game in hand. Things are bound to change if Matebele win the outstanding fixture. ECCO and BDF XI are tied on 48 points with five and six games to go respectively.

BDF XI caught up with ECCO by taking advantage of a Santos side missing several key players on Sunday. Vincent Phiri, Donald Lopang, Pius Kolagano, Patrick Mathaba and Khumo Motlhabani were missing from the line-up of the youthful Gabane side amid reports that they have been suspended. Despite the absence of key players, Santos took the lead in the 32nd minute from the spot. Striker Mogakolodi 'Tsotso' Ngele outpaced Mompati Thuma who was forced to tackle him from behind and the referee awarded a penalty. Ngele stepped up to put Santos ahead. Eight minutes later, BDF XI got a penalty when Santos' goalkeeper, Boitumelo Kediseng fouled Mokgathi Mokgathi in the box. Defender Ernest Amos levelled the score from the spot.
