Title-chasing BDF XI suffered a major blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Notwane in an exciting Mascom Premier League game at the SSKB on Saturday. The result might come to haunt Matebele when the league comes to an end. Despite the absence of some key players in the Zebras camp in Belgium, the two sides displayed brilliant football especially in the midfield.

Notwane had the first chance to go ahead in the third minute after BDF XI conceded a free-kick just outside the 18th area but Fabian Zulu's effort was blocked by the BDF XI defence. Toronto launched another good attack but captain Phadza Butale's shot missed the target by a whisker.

Both sides matched each other in the midfield with Notwane's Blessing Moyo outstanding with accurate and decisive tackles. Mpoeleng Mpoeleng who had been tasked with ensuring that BDF XI's goalpoacher, Bernard Semakwezi is kept silent, was also instrumental. Led by the experienced Dnoald Thobega, BDF XI made life difficult for Notwane's front men, Tshepiso Molwantwa and Langson Sichola. Semakwezi managed to sneak away from Mpoeleng and unleashed a powerful shot but Notwane goalkeeper, Mompoloki Sephekolo parried the ball away for corner in the 19th minute.
