BDF VI men volleyball side has retained the Debswana Independence Cup after beating Mafolofolo 3-2 in a closely-contested final on Saturday. Both teams got into gear from the first whistle and Mafololofolo players have only themselves to blame for losing the final.

But credit has to go to BDF VI for a brave fight when they looked down and out. BDF VI lost concentration in the last minute of the first set and failed to win after a dominant performance.  Mafolofolo capitalised on the army side's mistakes to win the first set with a convincing 25-19. When it became clear that the soldiers were sinking, coach Selebatso Mabutho substituted captain Pogiso Osupile for Prince Matsheka who changed the complexion of the game.

In the second set, it was obvious that the army side learnt something from losing the first set and came firing from all cylinders. BDF VI took the lead from the onset making life very difficult for their opponents. Mafolofolo attempted a recovery but it was too late as the army side won 25-17.
