BDF IX vow to retain Oseg-AP classic

BDF XI have vowed to retain the Oseg-AP Mokoto Softball Diamond Classic title because they are better prepared than when they won it last year. BDF IX men coach Stone Lekgetho warned other contenders that they stand very little chance of wrestling the title from his charges in the finals billed for this weekend at the National Diamond in Gaborone.

Other men sides taking part in the finals are Wells, Paper Club, Scramblers, Rail Giants, Carats and hosts Vikings. In the women's competition, defending champions Wells, Bears, BDF IX, Carats, Vikings, Scramblers and Police IX will do battle in the finals. Two South African teams are expected to take part in the event.

Lekgetho said his side is unstoppable and does not fear any team. BDF IX men came tops last year after beating Blue Angels in a mouth watering all-army final. The BDF IX tactician said they are working very hard to prepare for the weekend finals. He attributed his team's good performance to commitment and having enough time to train. "I urge our supporters to come in large numbers to rally behind us and I promise that we will give them what they know us for," Lekgetho promised. He said the army side is set to continue its long dominance in local softball. He said their secret of doing well lies in respecting every team they meet. "We will take all the games seriously and treat teams equally because in a game of softball, there is nothing like a small team," he said.
