The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) has received cricket equipment worth P200,000 from the United Kingdom following the English outfit, Maryleborne Cricket Club’s (MCC) tour of Botswana in 2014.

BCA received 48 large kit bags through the help of Jonathan Steele, who is a member of Alderley Edge Cricket Club. He visited the country with MCC in 2014. The donation includes cricket bats, balls, stumps, pads shoes, helmets and protective gear.

“Upon his return to the UK, Steele rallied behind his team, friends and well wishers who put together extensive collection of cricket gear entirely from donations for use by the BCA for our development programme,” said Sumod Damodar, BCA’s fixtures and publicity secretary. “BCA is indeed grateful to Steele, Alderley Edge Club and everyone who supported and contributed to this drive,” added Damodar. The equipment is expected to make a difference as it will develop the sport as upcoming cricket players under BCA’s development programme will have more exposure to professional cricket equipment.
