Police in Maun are searching for an unidentified man who allegedly broke into a house, attacked a 19-year-old woman in her sleep, raped her, and stole her laptop and computer monitor in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 2am. According to police, the teenager was sleeping alone in a separate house on the same premises whilst the rest of her family slept in another house.

It is alleged that the victim woke up to see the intruder inside her room, who threatened her with a sharp object, sexually assaulted her before stealing a laptop and a computer monitor, and then fled the scene. Confirming the incident, Maun Police Station assistant commander, Assistant Superintendent Paul Basupi, said police have launched investigations and are working to identify and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
