BBA council meets to address contentious issues

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) will hold its national council meeting in Gaborone this weekend with some contentious issues up for discussion.

BBA chairperson, Kitso Robert told Mmegi Sport that the burning issues include a post-mortem of the national championships in Selebi-Phikwe last week, the appointment of national team selectors, bad publicity and the selection of the singles team. It was reported that there was discontent at the end of the national championships when singles champion, Ray Mascarenhas was excluded from the national team.

"Mascarenhas has been excluded from the team due to various reasons and I am dealing with the issue with the BBA Executive Committee.  He is a good bowler and has been representing this country since 1994," Robert explained.  He said some people were suggesting that the national team needed fresh blood and Mascarenhas at 67 is too old. He added that Mascarenhas is serving suspension from international duty.
