BancABC to co-sponsor Zebras for P8, 3m

African bank, BancABC is set to unveil a P8. 3 million sponsorship deal for the Zebras later this month, Mmegi Sport can reveal.

The bank, which lost a bid to finance a knockout tournament to mobile communications giants Mascom last year, comes in as a co-sponsor alongside traditional sponsors, Orange Botswana. Earlier on this year, Orange renewed their sponsorship for the senior national team with a new P16.6 million package for the next three years. Although new Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego would not disclose finer details of the sponsorship, he said they were working on the modalities."We are still working on that," was all Sebego told Mmegi Sport.

According to BancABC sources, the deal is for three years with P2, 1 million every season. "Negotiations have been going on for quite some time, in fact, David Fani (former BFA president) and his executive initiated the deal and should be concluded within the next two weeks. It's a three-year deal," said the source.Orange remain the lead sponsor of the Zebras despite ceding 50 percent of the marketing and branding rights of the team to other non-telecommunications brands willing to sign up with the BFA as co-sponsors.
