In an effort to improve their work relationship with the local media, the Botswana Badminton Association (BBA) on Saturday hosted a media tournament at the Tsholofelo hall in Gaborone.

The tournament attracted over 20 journalists from different media houses in print, radio and television. Before the start of the tournament, they were inducted on the basic skills and recent rules of the game of badminton. The journalists would then go on to play games in categories of singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Monirul Buiyan of Press Photo won in men's singles, while Tshepang Segwabe of BOPA was crowned the champion in women's singles. According to BBA President Moagi Gaborone, they saw it appropriate to invite the media for the tournament to enlighten them on the game and up their interest in the sport.
