The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) is struggling to get enough athletes to camp for the Africa Athletics Junior Championships (AAJC) that starts next week on Thursday.

By yesterday, the association was frantically trying to call schools to find out why the second batch of 41 athletes did not report to camp that already has out of school youth. BAA spokesperson, Glody Dube said that they were hopeful that some students would have reported to camp by yesterday evening.

"May be they did not come on Monday because it was a holiday. We also think the civil servants' strike could have affected them," he suggested.  Dube however said they are worried by the development and they are not even sure if all of the 41 athletes will come.  After qualifying for the championships, athletes did not go to camp and the assumption was that they will just train at their schools on their own.
