BAA, Dube in war of words

The dismal performance of hosts Botswana at the recent Africa Junior Athletics Championships (AJAC) has opened a can of worms at the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA).

Trouble started after BAA spokesman, Glody Dube, fired a salvo at the association saying that it was busy with logistical preparations for the competition while neglecting athletes. Dube acknowledged that he was tasked with management and preparation of the team, but he could only do his job well with support from other members of the BAA executive committee, who instead snubbed him.

"(Moses) Bantsi (BAA president) and (BAA development officer) Bobby (Gaseitsewe) run the office as a two-man show and other members of the committee have since been reduced to by-standers. He stated that after being tasked with preparing the athletes, no one at BAA inquired about progress and he was surprised when the media was told that the team was ready ahead of the competition.
