The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) has released names of nominees for the 31st annual sports awards to be held at Boipuso Hall on April 9.

Athletics and karate lead in the number of nominations in the 19 categories to be contested. Amantle Montsho of athletics looks likely to be crowned sports person of the year for the third time in a row following her historic achievements on track.

The 400m runner became the first Motswana to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games last year. A fierce battle is expected when four tacticians face each other in the coach of the year category.
