All set for BNSC awards

The stage is set for the annual Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) awards billed for Boipuso Hall tomorrow night.

Athletes who have been outstanding in the last year are expected to battle it out in 13 categories. BNSC acting executive secretary, Golesedi Chankuluba said preparations for the event have gone smoothly and that tickets have been selling well.

"I think people were motivated when they heard that Ringo would be performing because they started demanding tickets in numbers. Other performers on the programme include veteran singer, Ndingo Johwa, Benson Phuthego, K-boss, Mophato Dance theatre, Flexiville and Seragantshwane.Zambian Football Association (FAZ) president and former Africa Footballer of the Year, Kalusha Bwalya will be the guest speaker at the event expected to attract 1,000 people. Chankuluba said the presence of Bwalya would be a motivation to Batswana since his country's national soccer team, Chipolopolo, recently won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2012). World 400 metres champion, Amantle Montsho, is expected to win the most coveted trophy, that of the Sports Person of the Year.
