Alarm bells ringing at struggling Hotspurs

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Fresh from chasing promotion to the Premier League, Mahalapye Hotspurs find themselves at the wrong end of the table in the new campaign following back to back defeats in the opening two matches.

Hotspurs started the season with a 1-0 defeat to Motlakase Power Dynamos before falling 2-1 to little known No Mathata in their own backyard last weekend. No Mathata are only in their second season in the First Division.

Hotspurs spokesperson, Dindi Ranthoka, said the side has carried its poor form towards the end the season into the new campaign. He said they started preparing for the new season late and lost some key players. Ranthoka said with new additions, the team would take time to gel. But despite the slow start, Ranthoka is confident they will be able to compete for top honours. "We have acquired the services of a defender from GNT, a winger from Boteti, a striker from BR Highlanders and Oreeditse 'Veron' Modise from Notwane. We have a new coach, Dikatso Ngwako who replaced Candy Tshaboeng. Tshaboeng will continue working with the new coach," said Ranthoka.
He said the team had lacked the guidance of a qualified coach and Ngwako should provide the necessary stability.
