AFCON trophy tour ignites dreams of glory

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy landed in Gaborone yesterday morning, immediately sparking ambitious hopes of glory when the final whistle is blown in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon on February 12.

Zebras captain, Mompati Thuma ,had a feel of the trophy and Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, David Fani, couldn't help but imagine the gold-coated cup heading back to Botswana.

"I could not help but admire when Thuma lifted the trophy. This year's trophy tour has significance as the Zebras have qualified (for AFCON finals). We hope Thuma and Mosimanegape 'Twizer' Ramohibidu will develop a relationship with the trophy in the next two days," Fani said during a media briefing in the capital yesterday.
