Abandoned Wells, Police tie to be replayed

The Shell Softball League match between Wells and Police IX that was abandoned in the fifth inning due to heavy rains will be replayed tomorrow. The two teams were deadlocked 3-3 when the game was stopped in Jwaneng last Saturday.

Botswana Softball Association (BSA) have rescheduled the match, but Wells will now make the long trip to Gaborone.The match will be played at the UB Diamond. BSA competitions organiser, Renny Molete confirmed that according to the rules, the game will start afresh. "The game will start from the first inning. But the venue will no longer be Jwaneng, it will be played in Gaborone," Molete said.

In the initial encounter, Wells were in total control of the game in the opening innings. They scored a run in each of the first three to take a 3-0 lead. But their opponents drew level in the fourth inning with three quick runs. Police's key man, Phibion Tawina is convinced they will emerge the better side in the replay. He draws his confidence from his team's performance in the fourth inning.
