Teachers trade union, Botswana Sectots of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU )says they have had an impactful role in the past 30 years as they fought good battles to preserve democracy, social justice, equity and fairness. president Winston Radikolo highlighted that BOSETU mounted pressure on the government through campaigns, demonstrations, strikes, solidarity marches, debates and strategy alliances with national and international like-minded organisations such as BOFEPUSU, ANTUSA, EI and ILO in pursuit of a better Botswana.
“We have successfully staged a campaign against Botswana’s transgression of convention 87; our pressure has caused Botswana to appear twice before the ILO committee of application of standards (CAS).
We are happy to announce that the recommendations of the CAS are being implemented. We are hopeful that we will soon witness reviewed labour laws and conditions of service, which will translate into industrial peace and high productivity”.
