Your Excellency I beg to differ

On this rather over-debated subject - see your front page of Wednesday March 7th.

 1) With all due respect to our American friends and the US Ambassador, I am not sure that we as a nation need her to lecture us on gender issues. From what I can see, after 40 years of feminist/liberal "gender levelling" in America, Britain and Europe, those places are little happier, well ordered or less crime-free than they were in the 1950s.

2) I think that in the eyes of the Law, Batswana women have long been seen as precisely equal to men - no less and no more, and if they are by nature more vulnerable to certain crimes then both the Law, and Society, are keen to have their offenders punished severely.
