First I would like to thank Monitor newspaper for being the exclusive media partner for The Sound of Hope Music Concert World AIDS Day 2007. It is unfortunate that the above mentioned article was published in your newspaper. The author of the article, has completely failed to grasp the intention and scope of The Sound of Hope Music Concert. The intention of The Sound of Hope Music Concert has been to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention through responsible behaviour via the medium of music.
The article starts with the bold accusation that the The Sound of Hope Music Concert "was a total flop" and goes on to say that if we plan to make this an annual event "after the first disappointment, they might struggle to find sponsors for the next edition". Further he comments: "Though it looked like a good decision not to allow alcohol into the venue, the move might have cost them a lot as some people complained and some left to go to other spots where they could find alcohol".
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
