White SA, Black Zimbabwe-the similarities

This is in reference to Dan Moabi's column (Whither Botswana) of March 16, which I totally agree with. How come that all the noble and just ideals from OAU and the Front Line States initiatives in the struggle against white minority rule during the apartheid era in RSA have now become totally forgotten?

If we, for a moment, could go back and analyse what is equal and what may separate the situation at hand in Zimbabwe today from that in white apartheid RSA in those days.

At a quick glance I can detect two significant differences, but do they disqualify the 1989 conclusions? It is "White" and "undemocratic" (then in RSA with the absence of "one man one vote"). Well, in Zimbabwe now it is "black" and "a mock democracy" (heavy rigging of elections, massive repression of opposition, a long list...).
