When Faith Tears Family Apart: A Rejoinder

Recently an article appeared in this paper entitled: When Faith Tears Family Apart. The article alluded to the woes of a husband whose wife is taken up by issues of 'faith'.

At face value it would appear that this is a very irresponsible wife. This of course would not be a fair conclusion as we have only heard one side of the story. Perhaps the wife may be so kind to give us her side. It is quite possible that the wife may give her convincing story of how she is not understood or how the husband does not understand issues of faith.

As one who sometimes counsels married couples, it is my experience, especially among Pentecostal believers that if the husband is not in the same church conflicts normally arise. Some common areas of conflict are around issues of finances (tithing), consulting traditional doctors, rituals that have to do with child protection and ancestral worship.
