What is wrong with Bulela Ditswe?

Nothing! That is the short and long answer: Nothing wrong with Bulela Ditswe! After the August 30, 2008 events of the BDP primaries, there have been a lot of negative comments about this system practiced by the ruling party since 2003 in preparations for the 2004 general elections.

It is difficult to place one's finger on the precise spot marking the dubiousness of the Bulela Ditswe experiment. One reason may be the alarm created by the ruthless rejection of sitting MPs, including cabinet Ministers, from the ranks of new candidates to contest the general elections for 2009; another reason may be the numerous allegations of its abuse by those charged with its practical application.
