This is discrimination

I believe the move by the Ministry of Labour and Home affairs to be overly concerned about churches and not other societies is SATANIC and discriminatory. Just read the article "Expatriates closer to God and Pula than Batswana" in Mmegi (29/05/09).

I have been under the impression the Societies Act regulates all societies operating in Botswana which includes, among others, football teams, political parties but it appears the only society the ministry is worried about and its operations is the church.

The article states that: "There has been a public outcry that churches operating in Botswana make huge amounts of money from their membership only to employ expatriates to the disadvantage of locals. Other complaints are that church money is never accounted for, prompting more suspicion that some churches have become a booming business for foreigners".
