The proceedings at session two of parliament

The parliament reopened last month after a long recess with the moot, burning motions from last assembly such as the Security and Intelligence Bill, and the controversial seesaw Air Botswana (AB) Privatization.

Though there is progress, with the passing of the security and intelligence bill into law even after cogent reservations from some legislators, civil societies which was good for the democracy. Other issues are the Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies. However, there are still issues to be ironed out on the security and intelligence law as it doesn't clarify if the deputy director has total power. I mean total to make decisions like his leader while acting or during absence of the director general. Again, the legislators should propose the percentage of Batswana or citizens in committees for the newly Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) policy. As a citizen of this country, I would be thrilled if the following motions and questions can be put forward before the house by different MPs in this session before it ends.

I am expecting the two Members of Parliament for Kgatleng District ,Isaac Mabiletsa and Rakwadi Modipane to ask the following: Minister of Environmental, Wildlife and Tourism Captain Kitso Mokaila  should be asked why it sometimes takes long to approve Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies as this holdup development progress. In addition, asks the minister if there are any plans in introducing Tourism Boards in all districts as a way of spreading, developing and marketing tourism. With all this, there will be creation of employment, competition among districts. By the way that is the secret behind success in South African Tourism when they created provincial boards in all nine provinces. Remember this shouldn't be confused with the CBNRM policy. Also, ask the Minister of Transport Lesego Motsumi about any plannned transformation of Mochudi-Oliphant Drift Road from gravel to tarred road. The road fit well with the required 10km or more for gravel road to be tarred. More to the point is that the village (Oliphant Drift) could be a tourist destination if developed properly. In addition, question to Brigadier Ramadeluka Seretse, Minister of Lands and Housing about the shopping mall in Mochudi which has become a white elephant. In addition, asks the minister to review compensations given to people while relocating. Furthermore, asks about the whereabouts of modern bus rank and building of second library in Mochudi village.
Moreover, one would expect the vocal parliamentarians to ask the Minister of Education and the new Secretary General of BDP  Jacob Nkate if he knows about the psychological dangers of sending learners home and worse part missing exams due to school fees. Remember, an accident in May of high school male learner in Johannesburg, South Africa who committed suicide immediately after being suspended from school. The story left the authorities pointing fingers at one another. Also, by far how many institutions now comply with BOTA (Botswana Training Authority) and TEC (Tertiary Education Council) requirements? In addition ,the minister explain to the house, how many new local tertiary institutions admit disabled students ,if so are there adequate learning equipment or facilities for those students those tertiary schools being :NIIT,BAISAGO,LIMKOKWING UNIVERSITY,ABM.Besides, propose future  introduction of tourism as a subject in secondary schools because according to research tourism is seen as the second or third contributor to the country's economy.
