Tangane and his bus services need to wake up

On June 1, 2006, I lost a very close friend in a bus accident along the A1 highway. The bus he was travelling in overturned, killing some passengers (my friend included) and leaving a lot of them with injuries. The accident left his family and friends devastated.

Before we could even burry our beloved son and friend, newspapers, Mmegi to be precise, ran an article on that horrible accident. In that article, the journalist sought comments from the bus owner, one Tangane, the owner of the killer bus, Bamangwato Coach Tours. There were shocking, insensitive and rude comments in the article attributed to Tangane.

It is exactly three years on but I vividly remember he was reported as unapologetically having said his driver was avoiding a donkey and so what did people expect his driver to have done. What!?!With my mouth agape I wondered how a businessman, who obviously has celebrated a lot of Christmases, from whom I expected a bit of wisdom can simply say avoiding a donkey was the best his driver could have done. What really offended me was not because my friend had died from that particular bus, but rather the manner in which the bus owner treated the incident and how insensitive he was to the mourning families and the injured passengers.
