Running The Union Marathon

The Botswana Federation of Trade Union (BFTU) is on the countdown and it is a moment that has been awaited by many of its members; workers at large, employers, government and society as a whole! This is so because union affiliates are thirsty for leadership that will transform BFTU into an entity with a vast potential for sustenance and progressive development. Workers, both union and non-union's interest is to see what impact the new leadership will make to improve the standard of living for all workers. As for government and employers, there is a clear sign that the BFTU is growing.

 

The teachers union, having affiliated and with continued recruitment of more members, obviously the strength in our numbers comes as a threat. But, what is even  more scary (I am deliberately saying this to employers and government) is the fact that the BFTU has in its midst young, not only educated but knowledgeable, dynamic and visionary leaders. It is particularly true that union members recognise the importance of these young leaders if the BFTU is to grow and remain strong in the future.
