Revise the Road Traffic Act

The horrific accident that claimed many lives, most of them students, has come and gone. Different people have expressed their sympathies, condolences and opinions.

The question is what's the next move? What proactive measures are in place to prevent another tragedy, which could be worse than the last one? Or if these measures are already in place in the relevant legislation, what is being done to make sure they are effective and adhered to? Did all the concerned stakeholders meet to strategise or it has been taken just as one of the common misfortunes that we are fated to in our civilised era? To me this accident should have made a clarion call to all stakeholders not to sleep on their laurels and to promptly address the issue, as a national crisis.

A few individuals cannot take the sacrosanctity  of human life at ransom with gory brutality. These individuals may by commission or omission directly or indirectly contribute to road carnage. We don't have a large fleet and bad road conditions as some countries in the region but the number of road accidents we encounter is way ahead of some of these countries.
