Pushing The Boundaries Of Press Freedom, But Which Way?

Former US president John F Kennedy once said sacred cows have no place in journalism. With this proclamation, Kennedy underscored one of the most fundamental principles of democracy in guaranteeing press freedom. He then slammed the New York Times for failing to exercise this freedom opting for self-censorship.

This was after the US invaded the Bay of Pigs in Cuba in what turned out to be a disgrace to his government. The Cuban army easily defeated the rebels who wanted to overthrow the government with the assistance of the US. Most were either killed or captured.
