"Promoting Wellbeing In schools-What To Do?"

As noted last week, it is about time that schools should have their own educational psychologists who can assess, understand and help to take action to deal with anxiety caused by both in-school and out-of-school factors. As the Revised National Education Policy of 1994 proposes, school-based psychologists would help schools to develop and run school health and wellness programmes.

These would address, among other matters, eye examinations and the provision of spectacles where required, and ear examinations and the provision of hearing aids if needed. In addition the issue of anxiety and its sources would be addressed. Some anxiety is caused by the behaviour of bullies. It also may be caused by fear of being beaten by teachers.
