President Khama breaks a new ground

It will be amiss not to compliment our new President for hitting the ground running on the international arena. He brings a fresh breath in the SADC mindset of canonising Mugabe of Zimbabwe as an angel and untouchable. He may bear the name of the angel Gabriel but his record of governance has been atrocious for lack of a stronger term of condemnation.

In the past, this column portrayed SADC as a circus particularly at the time they met in Dar-es-Salaam after the assault on Morgan Tsvangarai. President Thabo Mbeki was appointed, nay re-appointed, as mediator in the Zimbabwean crisis which he now denies exists, when it is in fact worsening.

I say re-appointed because he had all along been a de facto mediator in this crisis he does not recognise at the moment
We have repeatedly praised Robert Mugabe for his role in liberating Zimbabwe from Smith the colonialist rascal.
