In my view, its proponents are fundamentally from a wider spectrum of the opposition while the ruling party is seemingly allergic to it for fear of fair competition. Some people vaguely argue that parties should fund their campaigns because they enter the political race at their own volition.

On a more rational paradigm, the proponent's arguments are based on truism and realism. They aver that their campaigns become lymphatic and less vigorous because of lack of resources to reach out to as many people as they would have wished. They say this gives the ruling party an unfair advantages because being in power it has access to financiers to campaign successfully albeit unfairly. The ruling party also is in the habit of using state resources state media and government vehicles - in their campaigns. Some ministers pretend to be embarking on government trips only to engage in political campaigns though these meetings.
