Please contain crime

It is my very first time to write to your newspaper and I hope you will publish my opinions. I am proud of being a citizen of Botswana. My country is politically stable which is nice. There are some issues of concern like crime and violence against women and girls.

Some irresponsible people abuse school girls. They use them 'sexually', which is dangerous because they (abusers) may be spreading HIV. These adults some of them are fathers. They bring them cellphones and lunch packs. I want to advise the students to focus on their studies so that they become Botswana's assets tomorrow.
Going back to crime issue, the killing of innocent people in our country is a concern. Evil criminals target homes and the roads are roamed by hijackers.

The police should intensify security to protect and defend the society against these criminals. Illegal immigrants hired in farms, homes and businesses are contributing to these problems. I think it will benefit a lot if the police patrolled highways not only inside the greater Gaborone. Highways like Trans-Kgalagadi, A1 and Francistown/Kasane should be patrolled. These roads are used by tourists as well.
