In countries like South Africa there are programs about mathematics, chemistry, English and other subjects which are viewed by the less privileged elderly viewed, who did not have the opportunity to attend school (there is still a great percentage of them), or by people who have got nothing else to do.

It also may be a dangerous medium as e.g. in the time of elections where it is able to indoctrinate people to vote for one party, this happens in Zimbabwe these days It can show films which promote murders or sex.
