Not two or three but all opposition parties

Having referred only briefly last week to the Botswana Congress Party's "Democracy Alert No. 1 of 2007", I revisit the subject today. As I predicted, there were some fairly hostile reactions to the BCP's document, some of them going as far as accusing the party of being an enemy of Botswana for having issued the alert on the state of the country's democracy. In contrast, I remain convinced that the BCP did absolutely nothing wrong in publishing their views on our democracy.

For me, those who insist that there is nothing wrong with Botswana's democracy and want to continue boasting about it's virtues are perhaps the real enemies of the country, rather than those who see weaknesses in it.

As I have argued many times in the past, this country has achieved impressive successes in terms of economic and social development, as well as the consolidation of its democracy. There is no doubt that we are all proud of these developments.
