My MP is an embarrassment

I am a loyal constituent and card carrying member of the Botswana Democratic Party in the Nata/Gweta constituency.

But I must hasten to say that some of the things that my MP Olifant Mfa says or does always embarrasses and shocks me. He seems to have made it a point that every term of office he comes up with farcicical and outrageous things, which much more than anything else read deeper into his intellect and background. Before this term of office he refused to stop at a roadblock, I was embarrassed.

Lately, he is advocating for the presidential term of office to be extended to three terms, failing to appreciate how two five year terms were arrived at. Given that this was arrived at through a motion of an MP of the ruling party after a long time of uncertainity over limited presidential successions the best my MP could be doing would be to ensure the enrichment of this term limit. My MP is failing to detect the mood in the international and regional arena. What is happening in Zimbabwe and what recently happened in Kenya should have brought my MP to his senses and scruples that his suggestion would sound out-of-touch to say the least. Events in the region, just on his doorstep, should have humbled him to see the dangers of succumbing to power for too long. I am embarrassed. My MP should have also read the mood of the current president. One does not have to have been to university to read the mood especially if one purports to daily interact with the proposed beneficiary of the motion.
