Moumakwa betrayed the BNF

I was really disheartened and disappointed to learn that Obakeng Moumakwa has dumped his electorate and the Botswana national Front (BNF) who had sent him to Parliament to serve their interests and aspirations.

Moumakwa's action really discredited the BNF and its supporters in Kgalagadi North. The former legislator was sworn in at the National Assembly in November 2004 after the general elections following his victory in the area. He promised to serve the BNF and the electorate in Kgalagadi North for a period of five years. To my surprise, even before his third year in Parliament, he decided to go against people's wishes and relinquished his post and the legislator for the area and went for a fat cheque.

As we speak now, the people of Kgalagadi North do not have a representative in Parliament since December 2007. This is very unfair to the BNF and the electorate. This is most likely to exacerbate the already worse situation of voter apathy.
