Mogae's Retirement Is Good Riddance

Eight weeks from now Rraetsho Festus Gontebanye Mogae will cease to be the president of this republic. Thank God. Perhaps one may wonder why Mogae seems to be leaving an angry man.

He goes to Serowe and vents his anger about university academics (whom he formerly said he does not regard as intellectuals) who write nonsense about his government using pseudo names. Just like a secondary school class prefect admonishing other students to behave, he was spitting fire. He went as far as warning the opposition to leave his chief (next president) alone if they do not want to invite trouble.

This is Mogae, whom for the first time in his term as president is touring the whole country and using the vernacular, as he usually never speaks it in Kgotla meetings.
