Media reports could damage foreign investors' confidence

In her column in The Voice (1 June 2007), Beata Kasale wrote about the "different and interesting twist" that the state of politics is taking in Botswana. Among the issues addressed in the piece were: the recent special congress of the Botswana National Front; the way President Festus Mogae's government is tackling the HIV/AIDS pandemic; the relocation of the Basarwa of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve; and the "new phenomenon" facing the Botswana Democratic Party, of the party's back-benchers who are prepared to differ publicly with their leaders "even at the expense of their political careers."
