Let's campaign for Aung San Suu Kyi's release

Friday 19th June marks the 64th birthday of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung Sang Suu Kyi, the leader of the democracy movement in Burma.

As Mmegi readers will remember in May this year, the Nobel laurette was arrested and put on trial, charged with breaking the terms of her house arrest after an American man, John Yettaw, swam to her house uninvited and refused to leave.

The fascist, military dictatorship in Burma are using the actions of this man as an opportunity to extend her detention.  She will probably therefore spend her birthday detained in the notorious Insein Prison.
