Keep it up honourable MPs!

In the Matlho-A-Phage Btv programme on April 8, 2007, the panellists (your columnist among them) lambasted the loafer MPs, who by their truant tendencies when Parliament is sitting, verily tarnish the image of their profession. I hope it was crystal clear that it was not all the MPs who were under the spotlight. Only those who play hide and seek, were berated.

What might have been unclear was probably the number of the delinquents. The panelists didn't specify, trusting that listeners would not perceive it as astronomical,  though the number has on occasions affected the quorum of the National Assembly. One rotten apple, you know!

There is a good number of MPs who might miss sittings due to circumstances beyond their control - indisposition, Parliamentary assignments inside or outside the country or  emergency personal duties. Today I would like to recognise an important segment of MPs who make the National Assembly reverberate with the right noise, a lot of sense, urgent service and political incisiveness. I do not have to name names, their names have become household and very much admired particularly that they overarch the political party divide, with significant preponderance tipping the scale on the side of the ruling party, like it or not..
