Is Teaching French A Curse?

I wish that this article could be published in your paper. I am a French teacher who has done his studies abroad in a French speaking country.

The French Embassy in Botswana paid for my ticket and for my tuition and even gave me allowance on my stay there. I cannot say that it was much but it was enough though tough to survive. What really troubles me is that our Ministry of Education seems to forget us French teachers once the French government takes over. This is despite the fact that we work hard.

I have observed that in other departments, when people go for further studies the government helps them to cope in the learning environment. But with French teachers, it is different. We go to these universities and there is no help whatsoever from the ministry. The French Embassy people will even go so far as to come and check us in these universities where we are but nobody from the Ministry of Education bothers about our welfare. I am not saying that we should be treated in any special way but there has to be a sign of caring.
